4 Mistakes Your Website is Making
There is no such thing as a perfect website, regardless of what anyone says. The reason behind this is the fact that websites are subjective. One person may love it, the next may not even like it. Here are the top 4 things that are guaranteed to make users dislike your site. Luckily, they’re all pretty simple fixes!
1. Not saying what you do.
Pretend that you are a website visitor that has no clue what your company does. In the first 2 seconds of loading your home page, do you see (explicitly) what you do? If not, neither can your visitors.
Guess what we do!
3. Forgetting a starting point.
Your website should have a goal. Is it to sell products? Is it to get users to subscribe to your blog? It is to get them to submit a contact form? You should, first, clearly define these goals and second, create a call-to-action that allows your users to quickly do this.
4. Hiding the contact information.
Users should not have to click more than once to find contact information. I prefer to include some form of contact method (email, address, phone) on every page of a site and then repeat it on a contact page. Users become customers when they contact you so why not make it easy for them to do so?
5. It’s too hard to read.
Text too small, lines spaced too close, lines too long or lines too short will make it hard for users to read the information. Which will push them away. Engaging content isn’t just in the words you use, it’s also in the way it’s presented.
